Use the Settlement's Move Icon
Select the settlement you want to reposition, then open its settlement menu. Click Move settlement to a different location in the menu's top-left corner. Choose a new position near the original site, staying within the same region.
The official October demo FAQ gives that interface sequence. The October 28 developer diary also confirms that moving an established settlement has no relocation cost or penalty.
Respect the Local Movement Limit
This is a way to adjust a settlement's position, rather than transfer it across the county. The developers describe a reasonable-distance limit around the original location and explicitly rule out moving it into a different region on the other side of the map.
The announcement does not give an exact distance in tiles or meters. Use the positions allowed by the current placement interface instead of relying on an invented numerical radius.
Choose the New Position for a Concrete Reason
The developer diary gives moving closer to a resource or nearer the shore as examples of why the feature is useful. Consider what the settlement produces and how its position fits the surrounding transport network.
If the larger problem is an interregional stone route, remember that local relocation does not reverse river flow. Demo rafts remain downstream-only. Likewise, moving a settlement is different from changing its production: the FAQ handles production changes by demolishing a building and constructing a replacement.

Settlement movement was one of the features requested after Steam Next Fest and incorporated into the October demo. An older guide saying that a settlement cannot be moved may therefore describe an earlier build.
The current feature removes the need to treat every small placement mistake as permanent. Its boundaries still matter: stay near the original location and within the same region, then check the settlement's actual resource and transport situation after choosing the new site.
