Artisans Cannot Be Unlocked in the October Demo
If you have reached Commoners and cannot unlock Artisans, you have reached the current demo's content boundary. The October demo stops settlement progression at level 2. Artisans are announced as one of the additional social classes in Early Access, rather than a hidden demo upgrade you can activate with another resource.
The official demo FAQ states that distinction directly. As of November 1, Early Access is planned for November 5, 2026.
Confirm That You Have Reached the Available Tier
The demo upgrade process requires fulfilling a settlement's food and equipment consumption needs, then selecting Level Up beside the mayor portrait. Level 2 unlocks Commoner content.
To see those buildings, open Buildings, select the green Commoners icon, and use an available plus slot. Small markets, taverns, and raft ports are examples of the higher-level buildings the FAQ identifies within the demo.
Those Commoner buildings should not be confused with unlocking the Artisan social class itself.
What Early Access Is Announced to Add
The developers say Early Access extends settlement progression to level 4 and introduces Artisans and Patricians, alongside additional buildings and products. That establishes where the missing social classes belong in the release plan.
The obtained official material does not give a complete Artisan upgrade recipe or an exact class-by-level unlock table. It would be misleading to turn the general announcement into a tested sequence of required foods, equipment quantities, or menu actions.
Continue a Useful Demo County
You can still improve the county's existing production and trade while working within the Commoner limit. Stable food, equipment, construction points, and regional connections remain useful parts of that economy.
Current October demo progress is intended to carry into the purchased game. That allows preparation without implying that carrying a save bypasses the demo's class restrictions. Older Steam Next Fest saves have a separate incompatibility with the October demo.
