Unlock the Commoner Building Selection

To access a raft port, level up a settlement to level 2 and open its Buildings tab. Select the green Commoners person icon, click an available plus slot, and choose the raft port from the higher-level buildings. The earlier Peasant building view does not show the same choices.

The official County of Fortune demo FAQ names raft ports among the buildings unlocked through this sequence. Reaching level 2 first requires fulfilling the settlement's food and equipment consumption needs and using Level Up beside the mayor portrait.

Choose a Position for the Intended River Trade

A raft port matters because of the regions it can connect, rather than merely because the building is available. Before planning a heavy-goods route, inspect the river flow through Build a settlement and zoom into the river.

In the demo, rafts move downstream only. Heavy interregional products such as logs, stone, clay, and sand require river transport. A port in a region with no compatible downstream connection cannot solve that directional restriction.

The obtained FAQ does not provide a numerical port-building cost or a universal placement-radius rule. Use the actual construction interface for the available site and requirements.

Configure the Goods Route

Provide the appropriate transport endpoint in each region, then open trading using the top-left button or T. Select the goods, choose add trade route, and select the regions involved.

New routes use auto-trade by default, adjusting the traded amount to regional demand. Check that the source has enough stock and that the route's direction matches the river before expecting deliveries.

Keep the port supplied and supported like other infrastructure. A valid route cannot compensate for a producer stopped by missing inputs or an economy whose construction-point output cannot maintain its buildings.

Know the Lighter Land-Trade Exception

A receiving raft port is not limited to receiving every product by water. The official FAQ says it can receive lighter goods over land when the sending region has a small market and the normal trade route is configured.

That arrangement does not make logs, stone, clay, or sand eligible for interregional road freight in the demo. It is a receiving option for compatible lighter goods, with the sender's small market still required.

FAQ

What level unlocks raft-port access in the demo?

Level 2, through the green Commoners icon in the Buildings tab.

Why can I not find it among the starting buildings?

It is a higher-level Commoner building, so open that social-class tab after upgrading.

Can a raft port receive goods by road?

Yes, for compatible lighter goods sent from a region with a small market, according to the official FAQ.

Does a raft port let stone travel upstream?

No. The demo's rafts remain downstream-only. Bidirectional sailboats are announced for Early Access ports.
